Encouragement isn’t the problem
Most people don’t need more encouragement.
They need clarity.
I’ve sat with so many people in faith communities who’ve been told:
“God has a purpose for you.”
And they believe it.
But they’re still stuck.
Why?
Because they’re asking questions like:
“What does that actually look like in my life?”
“Where would I even start?”
So they wait.
Not because they lack faith—
but because they don’t see a path forward.
When that path becomes clear, even in small ways:
confidence grows
people take initiative
engagement stops feeling forced
That’s when ministry shifts from:
managing people
to
mobilizing and engaging them.
It’s the difference between someone seeing themselves as not important or as “just a volunteer” to helping them see their involvement as part of their discipleship and their whole lives as “ministry.”
