How do I discern which opportunity to use my gifts in?--Gifts FAQ

In facilitating and teaching the Your Unique Design sessions to a variety of groups, I have gathered questions along the way. This and several future blog posts will capture some of those questions and my responses.

How do I discern which opportunity to use my gifts in?

Ask the Lord, in the coming weeks, to give you a “discerning heart”—to grant you His wisdom and His guidance…to both open your eyes to see where you are already using your gifts…as well as to see places where He is already at work and inviting you to join Him. He will answer this prayer!

Also, ask those who know you well for input about your gifts—the ones you are perhaps already using but cannot see the impact as clearly as someone else might, and the ones that you might need to seek ways to start developing.

It can be helpful to peruse the “serving” page of your church’s or a favorite nonprofit organization’s website. As you read of opportunities, which resonate most with you? Which make your heart speed up? Which would you like to try? Our passions can be very helpful in directing us to the place we use our gifts, so pay attention to what most interests or compels you.
