What if my gifts sort of don’t avail me to a specific “job”? It seems to me more like just being a decent person and friend…--Gifts FAQ

In facilitating and teaching the Your Unique Design Sessions to a variety of groups, I have gathered questions along the way. This and several future blog posts will capture some of those questions and my responses.

What if my gifts sort of don’t avail me to a specific “job”? It seems to me more like just being a decent person and friend…

First of all, God is more concerned with who we are becoming (less with our doing…because that flows from becoming).

Second, God is with us everywhere at all times. [Jacob discovers this in Genesis 28:10-16—“Surely the Lord is in this place, and I did not know it.”] working in and through us as we submit to Him. So, you ARE using (or can use) your gifts whenever and wherever you find yourself. Pray for the Lord to help you begin to see and know your contribution in these “non-specific job” places in the coming weeks/months. You are blessed…to be a blessing.

Third, pray. Ask God what He would have you do with your particular mix of gifts in this season. He may present you with something new/unique in the coming weeks/months…keep your eyes and heart open. Then, step out boldly with your “yes.”

One other thing: is there an opportunity that you are hesitating on? Could you mentor a younger woman? Lead a Bible study? Serve at a non-profit about whose cause you are passionate? What “shape” does your mix of top gifts suggest?
