Dear Shirley:
I would love to have a phone call with you over the next couple of weeks if you would be willing to speak with me on [engaging our members…by helping them identify and utilize their unique, God-given gifts]. I have no formal theological training, nor do I feel like I know what I am doing. I am simply following God’s lead in this area and believe that it may be transformational for our membership, particularly our younger members who are not actively engaged in service for God’s kingdom at our local church. As I shared with our leadership, I want to crack the 20/80 code where 20% (or less) are doing 80% (or more) of the serving at church and many are serving in multiple areas, not because they are particularly gifted to serve, but merely because they are available and willing when called upon by staff or ministry leaders.
