A Prayer for Corporate Worship

Creator God who made all things…

We’re grateful to come before You this morning in song and prayer…in worship and thanksgiving. We bask in the immense hope that Easter and Your resurrection bring…and rest in the peace that You alone can give.

 

Compassionate Lord, we confess that at times this week we have been less-than-loving to our neighbors, that we have fallen short in kindness, generosity, and patience. Forgive us and wash us clean. Transform us from the inside that we might be holy ambassadors in this world that so desperately needs to know You.

 

We think now of those who are grieving—for our Catholic brothers and sisters in the loss of Pope Francis, for those in war-torn regions for whom threat and injury is a constant, for those who are struggling with addiction or estrangement or serious illness—for all who mourn, Lord, console them…lift them up…bring healing to their minds and bodies and souls.

 

For the leadership of this church, this city, county, state, and nation—Lord would you alone guide. Grant Your wisdom and Your discernment and Your humility to those who govern that we might be well-led in all these arenas. We echo just this as we seek to hire staff for youth and college ministries. Direct to us Christ-centered servant leaders who are faithful disciplers of others.

 

Those preaching/teaching this morning, give them Your words. Open our minds to understand the important truths of the Scripture presented as we examine our own hearts—may we bear the kind of fruit that You intend.

 

We close this time of intercession by saying Your prayer together:

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
