Healing

The gift of Healing follows the pattern we see in the life and ministry of Jesus where healing was physical, mental, emotional, and/or spiritual. Often in Scripture healing is used by God to pour grace upon someone while simultaneously authenticating a message or a ministry. Always it is to show God’s mercy and power. Sometimes healing is instant and sometimes it happens over time. Our God is a God of restoration and wholeness, and healing is one way in which we see Him reach deeply into individual lives.

Scriptures that reference Healing or show someone exhibiting these gifts:

Mark 2; Mark 10; Luke 5 (Jesus); Luke 10 (72); Luke 22 (Jesus); Acts 3 (Peter and John); Acts 5 (the apostles); 1 Corinthians 12.

Questions on the assessment that pertain to Healing/Miracles:

  • When I see people who are sick, I have a strong desire to pray for their healing.

  • I have seen God heal someone in connection with a prayer I have prayed or by my laying on of hands.

  • I am drawn to participate in ministries like “inner healing prayer” or “spiritual deliverance healing.”

Potential negatives to this gift:

  • Pride in ability to heal.

  • Fail to remember that healing is up to God and may at times be meant to authenticate a ministry or a message and may not “work” every time it is called upon.
