The Body of Christ—Questions for Reflection

Do you think more about “going to church” or “being the church”?

Are you meant to be a “passive consumer of programs and offerings” or an “agent of God’s mission both inside and outside the walls of the church”?

Would you rather “do faith alone” or “work together in community with other like-minded believers to be the Lord’s change agent”?

Do you depend on clergy to “do” ministry, while non-clergy “receive” ministry?

Have you found your place in the Body of Christ—the Church—by understanding your own calling, purpose, spiritual gifts, and uniqueness?

Do you view your entire life as “ministry”—as under God’s call?

How familiar are you with the Body of Christ analogy for the Church?

Is Jesus the primary Head of your church or is your pastor or leader board?

When is the last time you read 1 Corinthians Chapters 12-14 and concentrated on the description of how to be the church—especially the words “one” “Spirit” “unity” “body”?
