Being Uniquely YOU

Psalm 139 says that God knows you deeply, He perceives your thoughts, sees your daily life, knows your patterns and habits, even reads your mind.  Instead of those ideas causing angst, David (the author) rejoices and is in awe that God is so familiar with us: “Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.” David goes on to say that God is with us anywhere and everywhere we are.  We are never out of His reach.  Again, this is meant to be a source of comfort.

David goes on to detail the following:

·       God created your inmost being.

·       God knit you together in your mother’s womb.

·       You are fearfully and wonderfully made by God.

·       His works are wonderful.

·       God has a purpose for your life.

Your purpose includes your God-given abilities, takes into account your life experiences, and makes use of your Spirit-empowered gifts.

In Living Your Strengths: Discover Your God-Given Talents and Inspire Your Community, the authors say: “…you are uniquely created by God and endowed with talents and gifts that are yours and yours alone - and the discovery and development of these talents is key to your well-being. God wants you to be you - not somebody else, but you.”

What are you doing to discover and live out your purpose?

Are you copying others or being uniquely you?
